Driving community connection in Longreach!

Recipients in Longreach now have greater access to community activities with the arrival of a new selectability van! 

The extra vehicle means more people can join selectability’s group programs and enjoy reliable, free transport to and from the local wellbeing hub. 

Regional coordinator Debbie Erswell said they were excited to offer recipients new opportunities for community participation and goal focused activities. 

“The new van allows us to expand what we can offer to our Longreach recipients,” said Debbie.  

“As our group programs continue to grow, it ensures more recipients can attend the Clubhouse and participate in activities without the barrier of transport.” 

For many recipients in regional communities, access to transport can directly impact their ability to engage socially, attend appointments and build independence.  

Debbie said having dedicated transport available created more flexibility and opportunity. 

“It means we can plan a wider range of activities and ensure recipients can access the community in meaningful ways,” she said.  

“Whether it is attending local events, working toward personal goals or simply coming into the hub for the day, transport should not stand in the way.” 

The van seats eight people, allowing group outings to run more efficiently while maintaining a supportive and connected environment.  

“The growth in our programs shows how important these spaces are,” Debbie said.  

“The van helps us meet that demand while continuing to provide person-centred support.” 

“It is about inclusion and participation,” she said.  

“When recipients can access the community more easily, they build confidence, strengthen relationships and feel more connected to where they live.” 

With reliable transport now available, Longreach recipients have increased opportunities to engage, explore and achieve their goals, supported by a service that continues to grow alongside the community it serves.
