Starting the conversation, strengthening the connection
Clubhouse members from across North Queensland came together at The Strand to mark R U OK? Day and World Suicide Prevention Day with good food, conversation and connection.
Members from Townsville, Ingham, Charters Towers and the Burdekin made the trip to Townsville for a BBQ, providing an opportunity to catch up, build new friendships and celebrate the connections formed through selectability’s Clubhouse program.
With both awareness days falling on 10 September this year, the gathering was also an important reminder that while starting a conversation matters, staying connected can make an even bigger difference.
Chief Operating Officer Aaron Farrell said meaningful relationships, community participation and a sense of belonging all played an important role in supporting mental wellbeing.
“Our Clubhouse members are coming together because connection doesn’t just happen by chance.
“It grows through shared experiences, friendships and welcoming spaces where people feel they belong.
“The gathering is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the relationships members have built across our communities and the positive impact those connections can have on wellbeing.”
The celebrations weren’t limited to Townsville, with Clubhouse members and employees across our footprint getting involved in their own communities!
From Rockhampton to Richmond and Longreach, regions marked the occasion in their own way, creating opportunities to check in, spend time together and strengthen local connections.
