New date! Burdekin Mental Health Hub official opening

Unfortunately due to the impacts the significant rainfall and extreme weather has had on both the site and the building schedule we have had to postpone our event. We hope to see the Burdekin community at the official launch of the Mental Health Hub on the new date - Tuesday 18 June 2024, from 11am - 1pm.

selectability has been delivering NDIS and carer services across the Burdekin for a number of years however, without a physical presence we were limited in the types of support we could provide. To overcome this, we purchased the disused Caledonian Hall, and thanks to an $808K grant from the Queensland Government’s Community Infrastructure Investment Partnership Program, transformed it into the Burdekin Mental Health Hub.

We are pleased to provide a central facility for Burdekin locals to connect and link to vital mental wellbeing support.

Engaging the community
Before finalising the design of the new facility, we undertook extensive consultation and engagement the local community to ensure that the services on offer were in line with community needs.

We found that:

  • 93 per cent of respondents believed the was a need for a dedicated mental wellbeing facility
  • 88 per cent believed the existing range of mental health supports is inadequate or limited.
  • 88 per cent believe a friend or loved one would have benefitted from mental health support over the last 12 months.
