Aged care
selectability is committed to providing aged care services that:
- are culturally appropriate and safe
- ensure individual interests, customs, beliefs and cultural backgrounds are valued and nurtured
- assist individuals to stay connected with their family and community
- are acceptable and accessible to the community
- are of good quality
- meet aged care standards.
In September 2023, selectability took over management responsibility for three small First Nations residential aged care facilities; Ngooderi House, Kukatja Place and Kuba Natha Hostel; in the Lower Gulf.
Working closely with previous provider, Gidgee Healing during the transition period, and with endorsement from the Department of Health and Aged Care, the needs of residents and their families has continued to be provided for at the highest level.
Read our aged care article on addressing the challenges of remote service delivery.
Most recently in July 2025, selectability also took over management responsibility from Aurukun Shire Council of the Chivaree Centre. The Chivaree Centre is a day respite aged care centre which also offers home help and social support.
