Meet the team: Loata Koroiveibau

For Mount Isa team leader Loata, leadership starts with care, integrity and creating a space where people feel they belong.

As a part of her role, she oversees the operations of the Clubhouse while working closely with recipients to build on their strengths, support positive choices and set meaningful goals.  

Her focus is on helping people grow in confidence and independence, while ensuring the Clubhouse remains a welcoming environment that supports mental wellbeing.

“I love being able to offer care and love for the recipients and create a happy environment with workers and staff every day,” said Loata.

“I look forward to seeing recipients work towards their goals and build trust and confidence to express themselves and know that they are always included in the community and not look down on themselves because of their limitations. 

Originally from Fiji, she moved to Australia in 2020 and came to Mount Isa in January 2022 to be with her son and his family.

Loata joined selectability in March 2022, following the career progression pathway into her current role.

“selectability was the first to respond and I’ve been here since. I have no regrets!

Her career journey has included teaching, administration and community-based roles, experiences that shaped her strong belief in accountability and respect. Those values continue to guide her leadership.

“That serving with integrity is vital in this organisation especially when we work without our leaders there all the time to check on us.

“Create the atmosphere of love and kindness in the workplace so everyone breathes freely and work happily. Be inclusive and regard others with honour and respect.

She also believes growth comes from personal responsibility.

“I am accountable for my actions. To own up to my mistakes which is not weakness but pathway to learn. To be honest and work diligently.

Outside of work, Loata is deeply connected to her family and community. A proud mother and grandmother, she enjoys volleyball, netball, swimming, going to the gym, cooking, reading and travelling.  

She volunteers through church ministries, supports youth and women’s groups, and contributes to community programs including feeding the homeless and assisting with the Salvation Army’s Thursday meals.

Grateful for the training and opportunities she has received, Loata says she is always willing to go the extra mile.

“I know one thing for sure, I love doing my work.”

Through her leadership at the Mount Isa Clubhouse, Loata continues to foster a culture of inclusion, respect and encouragement, ensuring recipients feel supported to work toward their goals with confidence.
