Dedicated general manager for clinical services

13 July 2022

With an increase in demand for mental health support across regional Queensland, selectability has appointed a dedicated General Manager to oversee the expansion of its clinical services function.

Previously holding the dual role of General Manager Cairns and Clinical Services, Ingrid Westthorp’s focus will shift to ensuring selectability’s clinical services are accessible, flexible and in line with the needs of regional Queenslanders.

Ingrid said the clinical services team had gradually expanded over the years and there are some really exciting times ahead.

“We are a small yet dynamic team with physical practices in Cairns, Townsville, Ingham, Mackay and Rockhampton but our overall reach extends much further – out west to Mount Isa and south to the Sunshine Coast,” said Ingrid

“I am looking forward to seeing our services reach a lot more areas. With my focus and increased presence leading the clinical services team I am looking forward to expanding the team and our offerings.”

Currently selectability has over 40 APHRA registered clinicians – and counting and the team is diverse covering a range of specialties and treatment areas.

“Our growing team has really allowed selectability to expand its treatment areas and therapeutic offerings to include art therapy; cognitive behaviour therapy; dialectical behaviour therapy…and more.

“selectability has a diverse referral pathway offerings and programs including Connect to Wellbeing (Neami National), GPs, Medicare, NDIS, WorkCover and Carer Gateway (Wellways).

“A lot of the consumers selectability provides services to have NDIS plans which include psychological therapies. And this is an area I will be looking to grow over the next year.”

Another area of growth that Ingrid will be focusing on is increasing selectability’s private practice referrals.

“I want to really pursue opportunities for people to privately refer in to see our mental health professionals.

“We are finding (in general) that because we have access to such a large and diverse team of sub-contractors there are not large wait times.

“So we really want to get the message out that people will be able to get the help that you need (whether it be in person or via Telehealth) with limited wait times.”
