Meet the team: Ashleigh McCabe

20 June 2022

Meet Ashleigh, our service delivery team leader based out of selectability’s Mount Isa Mental Health Hub.

Recently celebrating five years with selectability, Ashleigh has taken advantage of professional development and training opportunities to progress to the role of team leader

“I started with selectability in 2017 as a lifestyle support worker (LSW) and have progressed my career over the past five years. I have held numerous positions including customer service officer, support coordinator and acting regional coordinator,” said Ashleigh.

Coming from an aged care background, Ashleigh found a passion for helping people when she was just 16 years-old.

“Working as an assistant in nursing when I was 16 really taught me a lot, and I found an interest in working with residents who were diagnosed with dementia.

“This is really where my passion for working in the mental health sector started.”

As team leader service delivery, Ashleigh works to ensure that our consumers are receiving the best support possible and the LSWs have the tools and support they need to carry out their role.

“In my role I oversee multiple programs that are currently offered at the Mount Isa Mental Health Hub including NDIS, selectwellbeing and child safety.

“I am so fortunate to also work with an excellent team of LSWs, support coordinators and CSOs who provide services to our consumers each day.

For people considering a role within the community services sector Ashleigh has the following words of advice…

“Do it! If it’s something that you are passionate about and have been wanting to do for a while now, definitely apply for a role in the sector.

“I went out on a whim five years ago and have never looked back.”
