selectability strengthens commitment to Ingham community

18 February 2022

Less than 12 months since officially opening its Ingham Mental Health Hub, mental wellbeing not-for-profit selectability has confirmed the purchase of its Lannercost Street premises.

This purchase strengthens the organisation’s commitment to improving the mental wellbeing of the Ingham community.

selectability Chief Operating Officer, Aaron Farrell, said that ensuring regional Queenslanders had access to high quality mental wellbeing and suicide prevention support and services remained a key focus for the organisation.

“Expanding our service offering across regional Queensland remains a priority for selectability, as we operate on the belief that everyone has the right to quality mental health and wellbeing supports in their community,” said Aaron.

“The purchase of the premises demonstrates our strong commitment to Ingham locals and we look forward to working with the community to ensure that our services are in line with community need.

“It will provide us more flexibility and autonomy in the way we deliver services as we can adjust the building layout to cater for more groups, one-on-one counselling and informal breakout areas.

“Separately to purchasing the building we are working on a grant submission to build two 3-bedroom units at the back of the building. If successful we anticipate that the project will cost $1million with 50 per-cent to be contributed by selectability.”

Ingham’s Regional Coordinator, Deborah Camp said the team was thrilled by the news of both the purchase and grant submission.

“selectability Ingham is just growing and growing and as Regional Coordinator I am really excited that we have been able to fill the previously unmet needs of the community. The team here is looking forward to adding new services and offer more group activities based on consumer interest,” said Deborah.

“In the past 12 months we have been assisting a lot of consumers in the supported accommodation space and we have seen a growing need for this in Ingham. Which is why when I heard about our grant submission I was so overjoyed and hopeful – there are so many people looking for this type of assistance.”
