Meet the team: Wendy Hill

17 October 2022

Meet Wendy, Executive Assistant to selectability CEO, Debra Burden.

Wendy provides secretarial and administration support to Debra and the executive team.

New to the mental health sector, Wendy joined the team in May  She she loves her role and being part of selectability.

“I am literally at the centre of the action of where incredible ideas and directives are conceived, and I get to be part of the amazing day to day running of our organisation,” said Wendy.

“In the short time I have been here, I have watched Debra and the team work hard to expand our footprint and presence in regional Queensland.”

Previously working for engineering consulting firms in Brisbane and Townsville, Wendy brings a host of skills to selectability. She has always had an interest in mental health and wellbeing - before starting with selectability Wendy spent nine years as a key part of the pastoral care team at a Townsville private school. In this role she supported management and the school psychologist in the provision of wellbeing support and mental health awareness to students and teachers.

“I knew about the work selectability did and I sat on the idea of approaching them regarding employment for quite a while ...  afraid of making a career move ... but I am glad that I did.”

Originally from Brisbane bayside, Wendy moved to Townsville with her young family in the early 2000s. Her children, now adults, remain a big part of one another’s lives. Wendy is counting down the days until her eldest daughter’s wedding, which will be her first time as mother of the bride.

“My other favourite pastime is being a member of the all-female Rotary Club of Townsville Saints.

I am currently the Public Image Director for the club and our focus is issues around women, family, mental health and suicide prevention.”

Wendy has embraced her role at selectability and enjoys supporting the vision and rapid growth of the organisation.

“Knowing that with each day we are assisting more and more people in our community on their journey to mental wellness is incredible.”
