Meet the team: Rebecca Humphrey
Meet Rebecca, one of our Support Coordinators based at selectability’s Rockhampton Mental Health Hub.
Although not quite a “local” Rebecca, or Bek as she prefers to be called, has lived in Rockhampton now for 19 years after moving from Longreach.
Bek has held various positions across a wide variety of industries including a apprentice chef, administration and creditor’s clerk before starting with selectability as a lifestyle support worker (LSW) and progressing to support coordination.
“I started in as a Support Coordinator in January this year and am loving the challenge that it brings – every day is different,” said Bek.
Bek had personal motivation behind her move to support coordination ... her children!
“I have a child with a disability and the more I know about the NDIS and its systems and processes, the more I can work to help not only my own child but others attempting to navigate the scheme.”
Wondering what exactly a Support Coordinator does?
We asked Bek to give us a rundown of her role.
"Basically support coordinators help consumers better understand the NDIS, the services available across the community and how to access them.
“I work with consumer to ensure they are accessing supports to help them achieve their NDIS goals. Most importantly I help our consumers get the most out of the funding in their NDIS plans.
“I love my job its brilliant, I love working with different people and helping consumers achieve their goals."
