Meet the team: Rachel Wainwright

Meet Rachel, Team Leader for The Way Back Support Service. Based at selectability Mount Isa’s Mental Health Hub, Rachel joined selectability in July 2021.

Rachel has a strong background at management level and most recently spending a number of years in practice management.

“I have a passion for workplace wellness, community connectivity and exceptional service delivery,” said Rachel.

“Before joining selectability, I was working in north-west Queensland and Lower Gulf communities, specifically in Indigenous and remote health.”

Over the past year Rachel has found her passion working in mental health and suicide prevention.

“I lost a very close friend to suicide last year, and his memory drives me - even on the tough days - to do what I can to help in our regional communities.”

As Team Leader, Rachel leads the delivery of The Way Back Support Service – a suicide prevention program developed by of Beyond Blue.

“I lead a talented team of support coordinators to deliver the The Way Back program.”

“The program is designed to support individuals after a suicide attempt or crisis.

“We work to support people through the first three months, providing non-clinical care and psychosocial suppor.” 

Rachel, who has called Mount Isa home on and off over the past 16 years, encourages others to get involved within the mental health sector.
