Meet the team: Lisa Hall

11 April 2022

Meet Lisa, our Business Development Officer based at the selectability Cairns Mental Health Hub.

Lisa joined selectability in September 2019 in that time has held a number of different roles.

Starting her working life as a hairdresser, Lisa has a diverse background that includes hospitality and tourism. In-line with her love for travel, Lisa was a travel agent for many years before moving into sales and marketing for a major hotel chain where she worked for a further five years.

“After a ten year period working in tourism, I decided I wanted to do something more fulfilling so I embarked on career in community services,” explained Lisa.

“I held various roles in employment services over an eight year period; including a role as support specialist assisting regional teams working in remote Indigenous communities.”

After making the move into community services Lisa found her calling helping people and headed to university, completing a Bachelor of Behavioral Science.

“Once I had completed my studies I held numerous other roles including a short-term contract with child safety followed by a role within a group training organisation mentoring trainees and apprentices.”

As Business Development Officer Lisa’s role includes supporting internal selectability business teams, assisting with the operations of project work, as well as networking.

“A big part of my role also includes building selectability’s local profile and identifying new business opportunities for selectability Cairns.”

Lisa, who originally hails from Melbourne, shares that the best part of her job is the diversity that it offers. But reminds us that self-care is particularly important when working in this industry.

“It is important to keep check with your own mental health; practice self-care and do the things that keep ‘your cup full’.”

When not at work Lisa enjoys travelling including day trips to explore the local area, hiking and camping as well as painting and drawing…and of course walking her dog Dexter.
