Meet the team: Charly Rennie

19 June 2023

Meet Charly – she is coming up to her third year with selectability in Mount Isa.

Beginning as a consumer service officer, Charly worked through selectability’s career progression pathway, transitioning to NDIS support coordination and subsequently her current role as team leader.

Originally from Glasgow, Scotland Charly has called Australia home for the past six years and has been based in Mount Isa for three and a half years where she has found comfort in the outback lifestyle.

As a part of her role, Charly delivers on-the-ground support through the Mount Isa Mental Health Hub, working with consumers, life coaches, consumer care officers and consumer’s families.

“I love working in such a passionate environment,” said Charly.

“The constant progression and development of the organisation is fantastic!”

Beyond her passion for mental wellbeing Charly loves being able to work with individuals in the Mt Isa region to reach their recovery goals.

“There’s so much space for personal and organisational development with selectability as well, no day is the same and I love that.”

Through her role as team leader, Charly also carries out other integral tasks like facilitating group programs and developing new ones that meet consumer needs.

She also completes intakes for new consumers and works with consumers to ensure they are setting and reaching their goals.

For Charly, this extensive list of day-to-day tasks is just part of what she loves doing, which has also aided her career progression.

And yet, after nearly three years, she remains consumer-focused, is passionate about the wellbeing of others and encourages those with similar passions to consider a role within the sector.

“The opportunities are endless within this sector, and if you choose to apply, remember to always be patient, be compassionate and always listen to your consumers.”
