From triumph to tomorrow – Josh’s story

Through selectability’s NDIS individual support services, stories of consumers diligently reaching their goals and aspirations are a daily occurrence.

For Cairns consumer Josh, his story is no exception.

The soon to be 51-year-old has recently completed his Cert III in business, and already has his eyes firmly set on his next venture.

Together with the support of selectability, Josh maintained a steady study schedule and attended classes in a journey that has fulfilled his goals and solidified future aspirations.

“To hear about Josh’s achievements when he received his certificate, and all the work he has done to make it happen has just been amazing,” lifestyle support worker Sonnia said.

 “He would sit and study every Monday and Tuesday with support worker Anne throughout the course and would be excited to tell me all about it.

“It makes you feel really good when you see that.”

“It encourages me to do more study,” Josh added.

“I like selectability, they spend a lot of time with me, which is important to me.

Fresh off his last semester, Josh now has his goals set on learning more about politics, for which he hopes to pursue a career.

On top of this, Josh is hoping to indulge in his music passions, learning to read sheet music and play the guitar.

“I would like to learn another instrument later on too.”

“We are looking into that currently, we have helped get his guitar ready and his music stand, now we are waiting for the new term!” said Sonnia.

Since starting services with selectability; aside from his goals; Josh has been leading a strong quality of life, exploring new parts of the region, attending social events like basketball games and music gigs.
