Coming out of your shell – Tay’s story

Coming out of your shell – Tay’s story

1 February 2024

selectability has been delivering vital services to Ingham locals for quite some time.

More recently; through the popular clubhouse program; members have been able to create a life on their own terms: building confidence, making friends and learning the skills needed to access education and employment opportunities.

None more so than consumer Tay, who had been attending the clubhouse for more than two years.

Together with her life coach, Tay has been taking strides in closing the gap between where she was and where she wants to be.

“Being with selectability has made a massive difference in my life… I used to be very shy and not very outgoing,” said Tay.

“Now I am cracking jokes and have really come out of my shell more!”

“She is definitely one of the favourites here at the clubhouse, we are all very proud of how far she has come,” selectability life coach Madison-Rose added.

“Tay’s confidence alone is come such a long way, even going across the road and going to the shops and buying her own lunch is something that is possible now!

“Even things like friendships, Tay has made a really good friend through the clubhouse, and they hang out together outside of clubhouse.”

Most recently, Tay has continued to reach her own goals by securing part time employment, something which she says would have been difficult just two years ago.

“I am much more outgoing now, and not too scared to talk to new people, so selectability has helped a lot,” said Tay.

“Now that I have a job, I am much more independent as well!”

Through the clubhouse; along with helping her secure employment and build her social skills; Tay enjoys indulging in her passion for cooking as well.

Throughout the last two years alone, Tay’s personal and social growth has spoken to the tailored programs delivered at the Ingham clubhouse, which continue to deliver practical outcomes day in, day out.

For Tay in particular, apart from her infectious personality, these programs have been a catalyst for reaching her goals.
