Meet the team: Bryn Hicks

10 June 2024

Meet Bryn, our new regional coordinator for the Burdekin! He's been with selectability for almost 2 years - previously heading up our suicide prevention initiatives before making the move to service delivery to oversee operations across the Burdekin region!

With the official opening of the Mental Health Hub just days away, Bryn is looking forward to working with individuals, groups and other service providers in the region to ensure that locals have access to the high-quality supports they deserve.

"Before we established our presence in Ayr, selectability carried out community consultation, as part of this 93 per cent of respondents said there was a need for a dedicated mental health and suicide prevention facility in the region," said Bryn.

'We are pleased to be able to meet this need and look forward to welcoming people from across the Burdekin to our refurbished facility.

"It is great to have a central location for people to come to and connect to a range of services under the one roof - with no appointment or referral required!

"The new Mental Health Hub features a large and versatile open plan space, designed for group activities, we also have a large kitchen that we run cooking groups from.

"We are all about supporting the needs of locals so we rely on input from the people coming to the Hub to let us know what kind of activities they want to see delivered out of the Hub."

Born and raised in Sydney, Bryn spent a couple of years living in the UK and travelling around Europe.

Upon his return he studied at the Gold Coast and worked in business development for several years, eventually settling in Townsville.

Bryn is yet another example of selectability’s career progression pathway, and the role it plays in the passion of its employees.

The Burdekin Mental Health Hub opening will take place on Tuesday 18 June from 11am, you can view more details of the event or watch the live stream here.
