selectability BikeShed benefits from Grill’d Local Matters campaign

10 November 2022

Young people attending selectability’s Youth BikeShed program in Townsville will have access to healthy after-school snacks thanks to a generous cash donation from Grill’d on Palmer St.

The $300 donation was part of the burger outlet’s Local Matters campaign and Grill’d Area Manager Paul Fitzgerald presented the cheque to selectability Townsville General Manager, Sally Bawden last week.

Sally said selectability was extremely grateful to Grill’d for the funds which would be put towards the new Youth BikeShed program.

“We are thrilled the Townsville community sees the value in the work selectability does and voted for us to receive the $300 donation,” said Sally.

“This money will allow us to provide toasted sandwiches and snacks to young people from both Heatley and Pimlico high schools attending the Youth BikeShed program.

“The focus of the program is really intervention, delivering activities aimed at preventing youth from engaging in criminal activity or anti-social behaviour.

“It gives young people a safe space to meet up and participate in a range of activities including group rides and bike repair workshops … and food provides a great incentive to attend!

“We look forward to continuing to work with Grill’d and encourage the Townsville community to drop into an outlet for a burger and to show support for your local community by voting for your charity of choice.”

Grill’d formed its ‘Local Matters’ campaign in 2011 to support local communities. Every month, the team places three jars – representing three local charities - in their restaurants. With every burger ordered, customers are given a token to vote for the organisation of their choice. At the end of the month, the organisation allocated the jar with the most tokens receives $300. The other jars receive $100 each.
