30 August 2021

Katelyn started work at selectability Townsville as a Lifestyle Support Worker before moving between roles of Customer Service Officer, Intake Officer and Consumer Care Officer.

Most recently changes in personal situation have seen her move to selectability’s most southern region – Rockhampton – where she has played a key role in establishing the new Mental Health Hub and is now working as a Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach.

She works to coordinate and connect NDIS participants with appropriate support services in order to assist them to work towards achieving their goals.

Katelyn works with a variety of individuals with contrasting disabilities ranging from paranoid schizophrenia, autism, complex behaviours to significant Intellectual Impairments.

“My role is to encourage, assist, build an individual’s capacity to ensure you they get the most out of their NDIS plans and continue to live safely and independently within their community," said Katelyn.

“I have been working in the mental health industry for almost three years and I love it. Mental health is important for everyone and I am always grateful that I can be a part of contributing to mental wellbeing and suicide prevention in regional Queensland.

“selectability is an organisation that not only allows personal and professional growth and development, but encourages it. It is also an organisation that is focused on our participants and doing what is right by them.”
