Meet the team: Bryn Hicks

5 September 2022

Meet Bryn, selectability Townsville’s new Suicide Prevention Coordinator. He is responsible for delivering the organisation’s suicide prevention activities. He works closely with the Townsville Suicide Prevention Network to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to suicide prevention across our region.

In his role, Bryn said he collaborates with key stakeholders and community members to encourage change.

“I strive to help reduce the rate of suicide and the stigma surrounding it,” said Bryn.

“I’m driven by the passion of our team members and people with lived experience.”

Bryn joined the team around two months ago, coming from a background in business and hospitality.

He previously completed a bachelor degree in Business, majoring in marketing, real estate and property development.

Born and raised in Sydney, Bryn spent a couple of years living in the UK and travelling around Europe. Upon his return he studied at the Gold Coast and worked in business development for several years. He eventually settled in Townsville, leading him to selectability.

Bryn is enthusiastic about his role and urges anyone interested in the sector to apply as soon as they can.

“Don’t think you aren’t the right fit or second guess yourself … t’s a great feeling waking up excited for work every day and I would recommend it to everybody.”

At the end of a busy day, you can find Bryn spending time with his partner, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen. He enjoys making new styles of food, his favourite being Pad Thai.

Bryn aims to develop a long term career with selectability by having a positive impact on co-workers and the network.
