Meet the team: Brylee Staples

9 October 2023

Meet Brylee! She is heading into her second year with selectability and has recently taken on the RTO administrator position at our head office.

Our RTO (registered training organisation) provides specialised training in mental health, disability support and community services through flexible and accessible training options.

Brylee’s role involves supporting students through the enrolment process, to ensure they are well equipped to enter the growing sector.

“I am one of the first contact points for students to engage in our training programs,” said Brylee.

“Part of my role is also to provide support for any questions or queries around their studies!”

Beginning as a lifestyle support worker, Brylee has followed selectability’s career progression pathway, taking on the role of consumer care officer, and eventually her current role.

Brylee’s energetic and compassionate personality matches her passion for mental health and suicide prevention - which prompted her to seek a role at selectability.

“Coming from lived experience, I struggled with mental health challenges from a very young age, as well as watching family and friends around me struggle.

“Talking about mental health and our struggles was the norm in our household growing up, and I think that's the key to what helped me to get through those times in my life.

“I was sick of the stigma attached to mental health and suicide and wanted to make a difference in our community.

“It's so important to me to open the conversation because even having one conversation could potentially save someone's life.”

It is a common story for the majority of selectability employees; to be formidable in their drive and charisma.

Beyond Brylee’s infectiously positive personality and bubbly nature, there is an effortless balance of outspoken advocacy for mental health and suicide prevention, which makes her an asset to her colleagues.

“I love knowing the work that I do helps and supports people in our community to live their best lives.

“But also, being able to keep my integrity and not have to compromise my own personal values for a job is the most important thing to me.”
