Meet the Team: Ashlie McDowall

13 November 2023

Meet Ashlie! She is coming up to her third year at selectability, working as an administration officer for the Carer Gateway program.

The Townsville local is as motivated as she is passionate, diligently contributing to the lives of carers so they can achieve a more sustainable caring role.

“I am responsible for handling referrals and intakes, ensuring that each referral is properly allocated to the appropriate location and service,” said Ashlie.

Beyond this, Ashlie was previously consumer service officer for supported independent living (SILs) and service delivery.

“Throughout my career, I have consistently pursued opportunities within the community services sector which are driven by my passion for making a meaningful impact.

“As a result, I have successfully developed experience in a diverse range of fields, enabling me to not only gain valuable expertise, but also discover where my strengths lie.

“I have had the privilege of working with children and youth, individuals with disabilities, and currently, I am dedicated to supporting mental health.”

While radiating positivity and devotion to a role may be a common theme among selectability employees, It’s Ashlie’s genuine commitment to care that influences her to make a lasting and positive impact on consumers.

According to Ashlie, this is only further leveraged by her team.

“I am fortunate to work with a highly skilled and motivated team.

“They consistently encourage me to challenge myself, prioritize attention to detail, and continuously expand my skillset.

“Notably, in my current role, I have the opportunity to support individuals from diverse backgrounds with unique needs, which I find particularly rewarding.”

Ashlie’s enthusiasm and passion for mental wellbeing is a strong catalyst for the positive change in the lives of carers.

This is only amplified by her knowledge of the space.

“I have witnessed my closest relatives and friends endure mental health difficulties, and I have observed how professional assistance and resources can greatly contribute to their path towards recovery.”
