Moving to Longreach – our new contract with the WQPHN

I’m proud to announce that selectability was successful in our bid for a new contract with the Western Queensland Primary Health Network.

The Community Services Facilitator is funded under the Federal Government’s National Psychosocial Support Program and aims to increase community capacity and capability to understand the local community services environment and to seek the help they need.

The funding will include two Community Service Facilitator positions based in Mount Isa who will look after the Mount Isa and Lower Gulf regions, and a position based in Longreach to look after the Central Western Queensland region.

This is an exciting time for selectability as this is the first time we will have a presence in the Central West, and is recognition of the great work within our current footprint.

We're on the move in Mount Isa

We’ve been planning our move from Miles Street to out new Mount Isa Mental Health Hub on West Street for some time, and I’m excited to announce that the moment is upon us.

We’ll be making the transition to 7-9 West Street from Monday 21 June and should be fully operational at our new site from Thursday 24 June.

As you can imagine this has been a momentous effort to get to this point, but it will be worth it both for our consumers and our team. I’ll include some pictures in my next update so you can see our new digs.

Carer Gateway is building momentum

After a few months of trying to figure things out, I’m glad to hear that we’re starting to get more referrals from Carer Gateway for counselling and supporting carers with respite services.

With that said, I encourage you to take note of the needs of your consumer’s carers, and if you see them struggling or in need or some support, please mention to them that we can provide additional supports through the Carer Gateway, including free counselling sessions and respite packages.

Encourage them to chat with your Team Leader or Regional Coordinator for more information. We’re currently working on some new brochures which you’ll be able to distribute in the near future.

We’ve just launched our new suicide prevention program in Mount Isa

After months of planning and hard work, on Monday 21 June we opened up referrals for The Way Back Support Service in Mount Isa.

The Way Back is a partnership between selectability, the North West Hospital and Health Service, the Western Queensland PHN, and Beyond Blue and is a program that is designed to support people during the critical period after a suicide attempt, or people who are in suicidal crisis.
