NDIS Worker Screen
From 1 February 2021 there were changes to legislation, which requires all NDIS providers to ensure workers have a NDIS Worker Screening clearance. This helps to ensure workers do not pose an unacceptable risk to the safety and wellbeing of NDIS participants.
The new NDIS Worker Screen has replaced the old Yellow Card. All selectability employees must hold a current and valid NDIS Worker Screen, or Yellow Card. Under the new legislation, there is a no card, no start policy.
I have a valid Yellow Card, can I continue to work?
Yes, while your Yellow Card is current, you can continue to work until the expiry date.
Three months before the expiry date, please apply to renew your card, using the new NDIS Worker Screening portal https://workerscreening.communities.qld.gov.au/workers/you-start please quote “selectability” as your employer.
Can I start work once I have lodged my NDIS Worker Screen application?
You can only continue working while your current Yellow Card, or NDIS Worker Screen is current.
Once your current Yellow Card, or NDIS Worker Screen has expired, you cannot continue to work while your application for your new NDIS Worker Screen is being processed.
How do I apply for my NDIS Worker Screen?
Please visit https://workerscreening.communities.qld.gov.au/workers/you-start three months prior to the expiry of your current Yellow Card, or NDIS Worker Screen, to apply for your new NDIS Worker Screen. Application processing times are varying, therefore it is recommended you apply for your renewal three months prior to the expiry of your current card. You can apply for a joint NDIS Worker Screen and Blue Card, using this portal.
Next steps
Please check the expiry date of your Yellow Card, or NDIS Worker Screen and ensure this is current. All employees must hold either a current Yellow Card, or NDIS Worker Screen and a current Blue Card, to work at selectability.
Under the no card, no start rule, if either your Blue Card, or Yellow Card/ NDIS Worker Screen expire, or is revoked during the course of employment, you will be unable to continue working.
