COVID-19: the simple things we can all do
There is a lot of information around at the moment about the constantly changing COVID-19 situation.
As a reminder, here is a list of the simple things we can all do to stay safe and comply with the Queensland Government’s COVID-19 requirements.
1. Regularly wash your hands
selectability offices and outlets have introduced mandatory hand washing to increase hand hygiene. Please wash your hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds upon entry of all selectability locations and to a consumer’s home. This should also apply to your private residence should you be returning home after an approved activity.
2. Practice physical distancing
- Keep a distance of at least 1.5 metres between yourself and others
- When travelling in a vehicle, ask consumers to sit in the rear left seat.
3. Wear a face mask in offices and indoor settings
You are required to wear a face mask across Queensland in offices and indoor settings.
Please remember:
- to carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave your home
- indoor settings include in vehicles when travelling with consumers
- wear your face mask in all indoor facilities, including in consumers homes
- for instructions on putting on your mask correctly please watch this short video
All sites have masks available, if you do not have a mask please see your line manager or CSO. If a consumer does not have a mask, please provide them with one - you can also get these from your line manager or CSO.
4. Only come into the office when necessary (LSWs)
We all have an important role to play in lowering the risks and spread of COVID-19. To support this we are asking all LSWs to return to their homes between shifts.
If have a shortened or cancelled shift, you should also return to your home. If you live some distance from your next consumers home, please contact you CSO or line manager to discuss alternative arrangement.
5. Stay home if you are unwell
To protect yourself, your family and the community from getting COVID-19, stay home if you are unwell. No matter how mild your symptoms.
If you are sick with a flu-like illness or who have been directed by health authorities to either self-isolate or self-quarantine must not attend work and must stay at home and
away from others.
6. Get your COVID booster vaccine
From 4 January 2022, you are eligible to receive your booster dose if you have had your second dose of your primary COVID-19 vaccination at least four months ago.
The Australian Department of Health recommends a booster dose to maintain your immunity against COVID-19.
You can find a clinic here.
Once you have received your booster dose, please email a copy of your COVID-19 digital certificate, or immunisation record to HR@selectability.com.au to be saved on your HR file.
7. Complete our new LMS module
We have replaced replaced our previous COVID-19 LMS module with a new - you can access it here.
Where LSWs return home on paid time, you should prioritise completing the revised COVID-19 LMS module. Once completed you should review other LMS modules and then complete any education you may be undertaking with selectability Training. If you are not currently enrolled with selectability Training, please review courses which will support your role and increase your level on our selectability career pathway.
8. Stay up to date with Queensland Government information and broadcasts
- visit the All Queenslanders: COVID-Ready | Health and wellbeing | Queensland Government website
- prepare a COVID-ready kit
- prepare a COVID care plan
And remember ...
9. Be kind, stay grateful, and reach out to others if you need some help.
10. Stay calm, stay well, stay connected with us, and stand willing to do work differently.
Ensuring your safety, that of our consumers and our wider community is our priority. We will provide you with further updates as they arise.
As always, we follow the directives of Queensland Health and you should contact your line manager if you have any questions.
Thank you for your support in keeping the community safe.
