A lasting legacy: community rallies for mental wellbeing in Moranbah
In a powerful show of community spirit, selectability’s Moranbah team has received a $13,762 donation following a memorial fundraiser held in honour of two much-loved locals, Frank Baker and John Allen.
The event, organised by their wives: former Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker, Anne O’Leary and the Moranbah Golf Club, brought the community together to celebrate the lives of the two men and to continue the causes they cared about.
The total funds raised were split between Hinterland Community Centre (HCC) and selectability, of which Frank was a former recipient.
Passionate about supporting mental wellbeing in their community, Frank and John’s legacy now lives on through their generosity, which will help more people in Moranbah access the support they need.
Kayla Sutton, regional coordinator at selectability Moranbah, said the funds would go toward purchasing a vehicle to better support individuals across the Isaac region.
“We’re incredibly grateful for this donation. It’s come from the heart of our community, and it will stay here to benefit the people who need it most,” said Kayla.
“Having access to a vehicle will allow us to respond to the increasing demand for support and make it easier for recipients to access our services, especially in outlying areas.”
Kayla said the donation demonstrated the deep care and connection shared across the Moranbah community.
“This is really about locals supporting locals.
“Even the consideration shows just how much they believed in the impact of community mental wellbeing support.
“Now, that support will continue to reach others.”
selectability is proud to provide essential services in Moranbah, creating safe, welcoming spaces where people can build confidence, feel connected, and achieve their goals.

A region that evidently supports their values.
“We want to thank Anne Baker and Anne O’Leary for their generosity and strength and to everyone who contributed to this fundraiser,” said Kayla.
“This donation doesn’t just honour Frank and John; it will improve the lives of those in the region as we work alongside them to understand their needs and interests so that their support works for them.”
