helps artist Phillipa feel safe, calm
and ready for a peaceful sleep.

Edna painted her hat using
colours inspired by the rich
soils of Country and included
a Barramundi, her totem
animal, symbolising her cultural
connection, identity and heritage

With themes of connection, support
and belonging emerged through
symbols such as a Brahman cow,
boots, a hat, tea cup, fossils and
intertwined hands. Created with
mixed media, the artwork celebrates
local identity, resilience and
community spirit - many hands,
all voices, one hub.

At 87, Janet draws inspiration from
the flowering trees lining Aurukun’s
rivers, cherished since childhood.
This artwork celebrates her deep
connection to Country, treasured
memories, and the natural
landscape whose beauty and
significance continue to inspire her.
