Support Coordinator, The Way Back Support Service (ISA)

The Way Back Support Service is a partnership between selectability, WQPHN, NWHHS and Beyond Blue, and is a non-clinical, support coordination-focused service that will provide practical psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have attempted suicide.

This innovative service aims to: 

  • improve access to high-quality aftercare to support at risk individuals to stay safe
  • build an individual’s capacity to manage distress and improve mental wellbeing
  • improve links with clinical and community-based services increase social connectedness and links to supportive networks (families, friends, peers and carers)

The Support Coordinator role will report to selectability Mount Isa’s clinical teamteader and manage a case load of The Way Back participants, providing non-clinical supports and case management, including the development of safety and wellbeing plans, referral and follow up, development of a support network and links with relevant life sustaining supports.

Conditions

  • fixed-term contract until 30 June 2022 with possibility of extension
  • full-time or part-time
  • competitive salary that recognises qualifications and experience
  • salary packaging up to $15,900 p/fbt year

Requirements

  • minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services or related disciplines; or willingness to undertake a Cert. IV in Mental Health provided by selectability Training
  • a Positive Notice Working with Children (Blue Card) with a Yellow Card exemption or Blue Card with the ability to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • current driver’s licence (Minimum P2) 
  • First Aid and CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain within 30 days of  commencing)
  • experience working in mental health or a related field with a good understanding of suicide and its impacts on individuals, families and communities.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You' completion certificate
