Now You See Me ... art competition + exhibition
Understanding is key to breaking the stigma around mental illness. Helping people to see those with lived experience as unique human beings, not as labels or stereotypes, is an important step in the process and one that Now You See Me aims to address.
Now You See Me will showcase the talent of Townsville residents and bring the community together for 10-day exhibition.
Please complete the form below to register your interest and provide an overview of your planned submission. We will be promoting artists in the lead up to the exhibition - so let us know if you would like to be profiled.
Registrations close on 14 September 2018.
Now You See Me is supported by Townsville City Council.
* First prize: $2,000 (as judged by panel) Judging will take place during the first week of the exhibition.
* People’s choice: $1000 (as voted by the Townsville Community)
Now You See Me art competition is open emerging artists who live in Townsville and have a personal experience with mental illness. For the purposes of the competition an emerging artists is defined as an ‘artist who has never had a solo exhibition'.
Current employees of selectability are ineligible to enter.
All visual art forms are invited. Entry is limited to one submission per artist.
Submitting your work:
Work must be submitted to selectability House, 59 Cambridge St, Vincent, between 9am & 4pm from Wednesday 19 September - Friday 21 September 2018. No late submissions will be accepted.
Entries must be the original work of the artist and must not infringe copyright.
Artwork must be no more than 12 months old and must not have been entered into any previous competitions.
Artwork deemed inappropriate or offensive by selectability will not be considered.
Artists must provide a high resolution digital images of their work. This should be emailed to email@example.com
These images must be in JPG format, and have a file size of no less than 1MB, and no more than 15MB.
While selectability will take all possible care, no responsibility will be taken for any damage which may occur during the installation process.
All artwork must be collected by Friday 19 October.
