As Mount Isa’s largest provider of community and clinical mental health services, it’s no surprise that selectability has seen rapid growth in the region as we maintain our commitment to the health and mental wellbeing of regional Queenslanders.
Located 900 kilometres from the closest major city, the Mount Isa region has limited access to vital mental wellbeing and suicide prevention services.
In 2021, we relocated premises to support growth and better meet the needs of the community.
Establishing a Mental Health Hub and expanding the number and types of services on offer has been an important step to improving community access to vital mental wellbeing supports and suicide prevention programs.
Our collaborative approach
selectability’s rapid expansion has not only given better access to vital services but allowed for the leveraging of existing services in the region through collaboration with other providers.
This includes:
- working with the Western Queensland Primary Health Network (WQPHN) on the delivery of the Community Service Facilitator program.
- supporting the ‘Way Back Support Service’ – a collaborative effort with the WQPHN and Beyond Blue to provide crisis support to individuals following a suicide attempt.
- standing up a new Youth BikeShed in 2023 thanks to a share of selectability’s $1.1 million in government funding.

Voices of Hope
Voices of Hope is a senior ladies’ choir program designed to provide support, positive social connections and a strong sense of hope for women aged over 55 through expression and connectiveness.

Meet the team
Gwion Cain
General Manager Cairns
Gwion Cain joined the selectability executive team in August 2022.
Gwion has an in-depth knowledge of the NDIS, and a broad range of operational experience including working closely with First Nations groups and providing grass roots NDIS advocacy support for remote communities. In 2016 he developed and opened the MaraWay Community Hub in Cairns which supports approximately 5,000 disadvantaged people per year with crises housing, domestic violence, parenting, training, and job search support.
Gwion is well known across Cairns with an established network and strong connections to his community.
His commitment to the area spans more than 22 years, including 12 years holding senior positions in the Cape and Torres regions.
Paul Liddiard
BikeShed Coordinator
The aim of the Youth BikeShed program is to really broaden the skill set of the young people attending and work with them to develop a set of core skills including planning, self-control, awareness and flexibility.
“By including our youth in new activities that they can get passionate about, our BikeShed team will support them in mapping out their individual goals and dealing with obstacles,” said Paul
Paul’s role as BikeShed Coordinator is to facilitate bicycle training and maintenance workshops.
“The most rewarding part of my job is the appreciation and gratitude shown by consumers. Knowing that my time and skills are valued.”
“The small wins that make a consumers week and place a massive smile on their face, their excitement at attending a place I work.”
Paul has experience in working with disabilities and in education. Paul knows his way around a bike as he was a previous bike shop owner.
When Paul is not at the BikeShed he loves the outdoors and calls himself a bit of an adventure man, camping, fishing and getting out on the trials mountain biking are a few of his favourite hobbies.
Tim Burden
Team Leader (Support Coordination)
Tim has taken advantage of selectability's career pathway to progress from lifestyle support worker to mental health hub coordinator, team leader support coordination (Cairns) and most recently returning to Townsville to lead the support coordination team there.
Tim is passionate about supporting consumers to achieve their goals.
A supportive workplace, great staff and amazing consumers are three of the things that Tim enjoys most about working for selectability.
Thomas Steed
Lifestyle Support Worker
Thomas has been working as a Lifestyle Support Worker in the Cairns region and thoroughly enjoys his role.
For Thomas, being able to help consumers achieve positive outcomes in their lives is one of the most rewarding aspects.
When not at work you will most likely find Thomas head down stuck into a book. He enjoys reading and his favourite genres are fantasy and philosophy.
Jeff Scharton
Team Leader (Direct Services)
Jeff collaborates with Lifestyle Workers and consumers to support their individual journey to reach their goals.
He has been with selectability for three months and loves providing support for those in need.
“The assistance that I’m able to put in place for our consumers can make a world of difference in their everyday lives.”
Originally from Nebraska, USA, Jeff made the big more to Australia in 2004. In his spare time, he’s either exploring the countryside or cooking up a storm on the BBQ.
Hannah Brittain
Support Coordinator/Psychosocial Recovery Coach
Hannah has been working with selectability as a Lifestyle Support Worker for the past two years. Recently Hannah has stepped up into the Support Coordinator/Recovery Coach role.
Having always worked in industries where people come first Hannah says her "passion in life is to help people through their mental health journey".
Starting work in Child Care at the age of 18, Hannah now supports people with complex mental health issues to reach their goals through the NDIS.
Shilo Tredinnick
Clinical Administration
Starting as a Lifestyle Support Worker just over a year ago Shilo now works in selectability's Clinical team as an administration officer.
Shilo enjoys meeting and working with people from all walks of life and being able to link them in with a clinical service that meets their individual needs.
Before working at selectability Shilo worked in the tourism industry and was fortunate to hold positions working on super yachts around the world. When not at work you can find Shilo enjoy the outdoors with her children.
Karisa Bojack
Regional Coordinator
Karisa is a proud Burdekin local and can’t wait to sink her teeth into her new role which will see her lead and expand selectability’s presence in the region.
Born and bred in Home Hill, Karisa married a local man and together have three children.
Having worked in the disability sector for just over six years, taking on the role of Regional Coordinator was an easy decision for Karisa.
“I started out a disability support worker and progressed to manager of supported independent living homes and then to a support coordinator, so this role really seemed like the next logical step in my career within the community services sector."
Karisa is looking forward to transitioning into the mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention and is super excited to hit the ground running with selectability in the Burdekin.
Maryanne Carroll
Support Coordinator/Psychosocial Recovery Coach
Maryanne has a keen interest in working out how the mind works and joins selectability Burdekin as a Support Coordinator/Psychosocial Recovery Coach.
Maryanne is excited to join the team and is looking forward to being able to apply what she has learnt in her studies to her new role.
As a Psychosocial Recovery Coach Maryanne will support those who with a psychosocial disability to help them understand the NDIS and develop a recovery plan to ensure they are living their best life.
And in her role as a Support Coordinator she will help connect our consumers with mainstream and NDIS funded support to help them achieve their goals.
Shaun Bramwell
Lifestyle Support Worker
Before joining selectability in early 2021, Shaun worked in industrial settings - including working FIFO in remote mines and as a locomotive driver on sugar cane trains.
Shaun is passionate about drawing on his experiences to support others going through the same thing. Shaun enjoys helping people and says seeing consumers achieve their goals is one of the best parts of his job.
Janine Wyles
Regional Coordinator
Meet Janine – she has been working for selectability for over a decade.
Beginning as a lifestyle support worker, Janine worked through selectability’s progression pathway, eventually taking on the role of Regional Coordinator, Palm Island.
“I have always loved supporting consumers to achieve their goals and live the life they choose,” Janine said.
“Working with the Regions team is one of the best parts about my job, as well as the opportunities selectability has given to advance in my career.”
For Janine, overseeing the development and progression in Palm Island is another testament to the outstanding on-the-ground support selectability provides across regional Queensland.
Tahnee Geia
Lifestyle Support Worker
Tahnee is a descent of both the Yalanji (near Cooktown) and the Olokola people (in the centre of Cape York) 200 miles inland from Coen.
She grew up on Palm Island and was schooled there until she went to the mainland for Boarding School to complete Year 12.
Tahnee returned back home to Palm Island and started working at the age of 16.
Having worked for selectability for the past six years, Tahnee enjoys being able to engage with the Palm Island community and "support our people, who have been in hard struggles".
Sally Bawden
General Manager Townsville
Sally has been with selectability for fours years. Starting as an LSW, she has filled the role of acting team leader on several occasions before becoming a support coordinator.
Sally quickly progressed to the role of team leader, support coordination, where she been instrumental in building a professional, well-respected (and constantly growing) team of 28 across selectability’s footprint.
She has strong community networks, exceptional knowledge of the NDIS and the passion and drive to successfully make the transition to her new role of General Manager Townsville.
Seamus Keane
Program Coordinator (selectwellbeing)
Seamus started with selectability as a Lifestyle Support Worker (LSW) in December 2021 and found his passion making a difference in the lives of others.
It is this passion teamed with his knowledge and experience that has seen him progress through the organisation to now lead the selectwellbeing team as Program Coordinator.
This is a unique program designed by selectability to promote independent living, and assist consumers who may be ineligible for NDIS. Seamus’s primary focus is to work with consumers to progress them to NDIS where they can get access to a lot more support.
Seamus loves his new role and found it a smooth transition from being a Lifestyle Support Worker.
Eliza Meldrum
Program Coordinator (Crisis Support Space)
Having relocated from Melbourne, Eliza is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. And it is this passion teamed with her knowledge and lived experience that has seen her progress through various roles within the organisation to now lead a team as Programs Coordinator.
It’s always been in her nature, to empathize with people and be a part of making a change…it’s what sparked her interest in the sector.
Since joining the selectability Townsville team in October 2020, Eliza hasn’t looked back.
In July the following year she applied internally for a role as a Consumer Care Officer and moved into that role for three months, before transitioning into the role of Program Coordinator in November.
Julie Ross
Regional Coordinator
Meet Julie. She started her career with selectability Townsville as a lifestyle support worker in late 2018, and following our career progression pathway and taking advantage of training opportunities quickly moved into a team leader role before recently commencing as regional coordinator in Ingham.
With a background in predominantly hospitality and administration roles across a range of industries Julie felt it was time for a change when returning to the workforce after having children.
For Julie the best part of her job is seeing consumers achieve their goals no matter how big or small. She enjoys working alongside a supportive team of co-workers and strives to make someone's day better - every day!
Shannen Williams
Team Leader
Shannen is Team Leader at the Mental Health Hub in her hometown of Ingham and previously held the role of Lifestyle Support Worker. She has been outspoken about her love for selectability since she first started a year and a half ago.
“Part of my role is to ensure consumers are being met with the best possible care to meet their needs and providing the community with a safe haven, otherwise known as Harmony Clubhouse,” Shannen said.
Anna Powell
Team Leader
Meet Anna! Anna is a Ingham local having complete all her schooling in Ingham. Anna is a team leader at selectability, her role is to work with her team and consumers to ensure they achieve their goals and build independence.
"I love the challenges this job brings and enjoy working with my consumers and team to reach their full potential. The best part of my job is watching our consumers flourish into who they want to become and seeing how much independence they build knowing they have our support."
Outside of work Anna is very outdoors orientated. Loves crabbing, fishing and camping.
Lisa Ridley
Regional Coordinator
Meet Lisa! She has been working for selectability for the last 18 months, and recently took on the role of regional coordinator – Charters Towers.
A Charters Towerslocal for the last 28 years, Lisa has a wealth of experience and understanding of mental wellbeing and suicide prevention across the region.
“I have spent the last 18 years working in the community services sector,” Lisa said.
“I began as a support worker, went on to admin and became the roster clerk for many years.
“I then came to selectability in the role of LSW for a short time before securing the role of team leader, until very recently where I was very fortunate to be chosen to take on the role of regional coordinator!”
Lisa’s career progression is bolstered by her passion for the mental wellbeing of others.
“I love the difference we can make in a person's life; I love to see the joy on a person’s face and the light come back into their eyes.
“When you love what you do it is not a job, that is the best part!
“That’s what prompted me to seek a job within the sector as well as personal family experience - to know there are people in our community that are struggling and need the help we once sought is what bought me here.”
When she is not overseeing the growth and implementation of services in the Charters Towers region, Lisa likes to spend time with her family and friends, reading, and mosaic.
Madison-Rose Tantalo
Life Coach
Meet Madie. Madie has lived in Ingham for 13 years.
As a Life Coach, Madie's role is to help consumers achieve their goals and to make the clubhouse an enjoyable and fun place.
"I have a background in Fitness and Personal Training, I am passionate about health, fitness, creating a happy mind space and living a happy life. i love Assisting the consumers to hit their goals and working with positive and motivated people."
Jayney Caruso
Support Coordinator/Recovery Coach
Meet Jayney Caruso, born and breed in Ingham.
Jayney graduated year 12 in 2021 and continued her studies with TAFE & doing a Traineeship up until April 2023 before joining selectability.
Jayney's is a support Coordination/ recovery coach. As a Support coordinator Jayney helps consumers get the most out of their NDIS Plan. Consumers work alongside support coordinators to determine how their funds will be spent and to connect with providers. Recovery coaches are responsible for capacity building and increasing awareness of choice and control, as well as identifying and developing goals. Coaches continue support and engagement with the consumer to track and document progress to report back to the NDIA.
" In the short time I have worked at selectability, I have loved working alongside a supportive team who are so easy to get along with, I have also enjoyed spending time with and supporting our consumers" said Jayney.
Tracey Inglis
Team Leader
Tracey has a varied work background having held roles from hospitality management and administration to counselling and personal development.
As a Team Leader Tracey's role involves supervising, leading and monitoring a team of Lifestyle Support Workers to achieve goals that support and contribute to the mental wellbeing of our consumers.
"We motivate and inspire our teams by creating an environment that promotes positive communication and knowledge sharing that encourages mutual respect and flexibility."
Tracey encourages others thinking about joining the sector to step outside their comfort zone and give it ago.
Sarah Anau
Team Leader
Sarah has been with selectability for nearly four years - recently making the move from support coordination into service delivery where she supports the needs of both consumers and Lifestyle Support Workers (LSWs).
Sarah regularly engages with consumers to ensure they’re happy with their services identify any barriers, and to guide them through their recovery journey. A big part of her role is mentoring her team of LSWs to ensure they have access to the support and resources they need to effectively carry out their roles.
She also works with the Consumer Service Officers to create rosters and match consumers with LSWs to create a support network they’re comfortable with.
Sarah started at selectability as an LSW so she can relate to her team and understand the challenges that may arise. She has also volunteered at Inspire Clubhouse, helping them run their classes.
Taking advantage of our career progression opportunities, Sarah completed a Certificate III in Individual Support and a Certificate IV in Mental Health with selectability Training. This helped her progress to role of Support Coordinator Psychosocial Recovery Coach. She did this for 12 months before stepping into the new position the team leader role.
Cat Maye
Senior Administration Officer
Since starting with selectability in 2020 Cat loves working within the community to support, maintain and encourage healthy mental health and reduce suicide rates.
She has lived mental health experience and worked throughout adult life to improve her own mental and physical health with the support from organisations and professionals.

Sue-Ellen Weedon
Regional Coordinator
Meet Sue-Ellen, joining selectability in the role of regional coordinator, Charters Towers, in late 2023 she took up the challenge of the new regional coordinator position in Mackay.
She has a wealth of knowledge and experience – holding various roles in the disability services sector including client service manager, program manager, team leader and disability employment consultant.
She has always been passionate helping people so working in the disability service sectors aligns perfectly with Sue-Ellen's personal values.
Jason Thomas
Team Leader
Jason loves working for selectability as it gives him the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of regional Queenslanders.
His team is passionate about improving the mental wellbeing of selectability's consumers and supporting them to participate in activities to get them closer to achieving greater independence.
Marissa Sherry
General Manager Regional Development
Having worked in child protection and human services for over 20 years Marissa brings a wealth of experience to our supported independent living (SIL) team.
Coming from a diverse background Marissa has experience working at all levels of government and also with non-government agencies delivering services.
“I hope to combine my background with children and young people with the services provided by selectability to improve and achieve sustainable outcomes for consumers,” said Marissa.
Originally from Brisbane Marissa ventured out west to Mount Isa for what was meant to be two years but 15 years later she is still there having settled with her family.
“For the last 14 years I have been working in Mount Isa in the child safety sector working with carers, children and young people.
“Working with young people and children has also given me a lot of experience in supporting people with a range of mental health and wellbeing needs.”
Joining the SIL team as Senior Program Coordinator Marissa will work alongside the selectability team supporting children in the child protection system that need residential care.
Ashleigh McCabe
Team Leader
Ashleigh is a Cert IV Mental Health worker, currently studying for her Diploma in Community Services and leading our service delivery team.
She loves that every single staff member shares the same values and is passionate about the work they do to support their consumers.
Aleasha Radecker
Team Leader
Aleasha, a Western Australian girl married a Mount Isa local and after 20 years of visiting Mount Isa decided it was time to leave the WA beaches behind and spend some much needed time in Mount Isa.
Aleasha studied community services straight out of high school and chose to work within the education department. Being young, she then chose to travel around WA, working across a different farms and mine sites.
Upon returning home Aleasha began a role as a residential support worker, and from there she found her passion and grew her career.
Her experience is predominately supported accommodation and she is looking forward to supporting our selectability teams to provide the best possible supports they can within the SIL and Child safety environment.

Team Leader
Coleen is very passionate about her role as Team Leader which enables her to work directly with people with disability to assist them live their best life.
Coleen joins the friendly Mackay team and loves to have joke and laugh.
She always works to help people out in need and is looking forward to building a strong team in Mackay.
Nicole Guzowski
Team Leader (Horizon Clubhouse)
Nicole has been a valued employee for nearly two years. As team leader for Horizon Clubhouse in Mackay, she oversees the daily operations, keeping consumers engaged with activities and social interaction.
Nicole got into community work thirteen years ago and discovered she loved it, and it’s this caring culture that drew her to selectability.
“I love the environment here, it’s passionate, caring, creative, and non-judgmental.”
Nicole loves gardening, volleyball and spending time with family and friends.
Leigh Howard
Regional Coordinator
Leigh is the Program Coordinator for the Longreach region. She works collaboratively with the community for the coordination of the day-to-day funded programs and services.
She organises safe spaces for our consumers to have social interactions and access to free mental health services. Her focus is on community connection and promoting mental wellbeing throughout the central west.
Leigh finds every day an adventure and loves the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of people in the Longreach community.
Debra Fitzgerald
Regional Coordinator
Debra is passionate about breaking down the stigma which stops people seeking help for mental health issues by altering society’s perception of mental health challenges and those struggling with them.
Debra believes that education is key to assist others in better managing their own mental health and supports the approach of drawing on personal strengths and resilience to overcome adversity.
Paul Mitchell
BikeShed Coordinator
Paul runs the new Youth BikeShed program that provides young people across the Rockhampton region with a welcoming place to make friends and engage in meaningful projects while improving their physical and mental health.
The program is focused on intervention and provides young people with activities that promote positive behaviours and prevent them from engaging in anti-social behaviour.
“All of the activities are about the journey of respect, self-regulation, communication and teamwork getting to the end goal of a positive personal outcome.”
Paul has diverse experience, having travelled 70 countries and lived in Canada, London and throughout Australia. He’s spent 30 years working in mental health, disabilities, community services and education.
He’s run for local council at Livingstone, and devoted himself to intervention programs, even taking a group to New Guinea to complete the Kokoda trek.
Caleb Stevens
Administration Officer
Caleb is one of the more recent additions to the selectability Rockhampton team. He loves being the first point of contact between staff, consumers and the general public. He has the utmost pride in his team and the work they accomplish in his local community.
Caleb looks forward to growth in his ability to provide absolute care to his region and workplace, he has faith that nowhere other than selectability Rockhampton could help cultivate this better.
Keri Webster
Regional Coordinator
Introducing Keri, our new regional coordinator for Moranbah and Sarina!
As one of Queensland youngest towns, Moranbah was specifically created for miners and their families. Today the town sustains a community of over 8000 permanent miners as well as large numbers of fly-in, fly-out miners.
“Having worked in the community service sector for over ten years, taking on the role of regional coordinator was an easy decision,” said Keri.
“I have gained a diverse range of skills thanks to varied roles across the sector including, enrolled nurse, disability support worker and mental health practitioner.
“Like most (in this sector), for me the role I play is all about the ability to make a positive difference to the lives of others.”
Keri is super excited to hit the ground running with selectability in Moranbah and across the Isaac region.
“Everyone across the region is going to benefit from having selectability’s services delivered locally."
Keri will lead a team to ensure we are tailoring services to the individual needs, goals and aspirations of our consumers.
Kayla Sutton
Life Coach
Meet Kayla! She is currently working as a life coach in the Moranbah region.
Originally from Townsville, the mother of 3 has a great passion for helping others in her community.
As a life coach, it is Kayla’s role to assist consumers to set meaningful goals that enable them to create a life on their terms.; closing the gap between where they are now and where they want to be.
“I absolutely love working with selectability,” said Kayla.
“I love the growth I can achieve, helping consumers and listening to their background stories and how I can help them.”
“I have always had a strong passion for mental health, I have experienced it myself and have lost many people I know to suicide in my life.”
Kayla attributes a lot of her passion to her radiating positivity and outgoing nature, making her a great asset to the team.
“I know I come from a good place, and I feel if I'm in this industry with the right intentions, like a lot of people are, we can make a change.”
Norma Smith
Consumer Service Officer
Meet Norma – she has been working for selectability in Charters Towers for the since late 2022, and has been a Charters Towers local since 2011.
“I love the team I work with,” said Norma.
“Being out of the workforce for so long I was a little nervous - I have been a stay-at-home mum for the past 24 years and the last 16 of those working alongside my husband Dave operating our business.
“The support and training given to me at selectability was so helpful and gave me the confidence I needed.”
Originally from Cloncurry, Norma’s experience and knowledge of Western Queensland makes her a valuable asset to selectability’s regional expansion.
Norma’s role as Consumer Service Officer involves on-the-ground support to manage daily rosters of Lifestyle Support Workers, as well as consumer appointments to ensure they have the support they need for day-to-day activities.
“That is the best part about my job, when I finish a roster and every booking is assigned - It means that every consumer has the support that they need to help them achieve their goals.”
Norma’s passion for her work and love for her team and her region reflects selectability’s wider commitment to improving the wellbeing of regional Queenslanders.

Venus Wyles-Wall
Support Coordinator
Meet Venus – she has been working for selectability since 2023.
As a proud Indigenous woman from the Girramay, Warrgamay and Tagalaka tribes, Venus is a strong believer in making a difference and has a burning passion to help others.
This is clearly shown in her role as a support coordinator, where she regularly works with our consumers to ensure they are making the most of their NDIS plans.
“I really enjoy helping others, whether it’s working with them to reach their goals or supporting them to overcome challenges,” said Venus.
“The best part of being a peer support worker is knowing that you are helping others to improve their mental wellbeing and having a positive impact in their life.”
Venus has held previous roles with Services Australia through which she has gained extensive knowledge of the sector and is currently studying a diploma in mental health.
Beyond her dedication to the mental health sector and supporting the wellbeing of regional Queenslanders, Venus maintains a healthy work-life balance, enjoying time at the beach or family gatherings.
It is her commitment to helping others, her family, and to wellbeing that led her to her role within selectability, a move she encourages others to take when given the opportunity.

Rebecca Sheeley

Skyye Nuttall
Life Coach
Meet Skyye! She has been working as a life coach in the Bowen region for the last 10 months.
The Airlie Beach local originally started her journey as a lifestyle support worker, before taking advantage of selectability’s career progression pathway, where she found her new role as life coach.
“My role includes supporting those with lived experience and disability to engage in activities to improve their psychosocial skills and empower them to create meaningful relationships with other consumers by attending out-of-town trips and activities,” said Skyye.
It is Skyye’s role to assist consumers to set meaningful goals that enable them to create a life on their terms; closing the gap between where they are now and where they want to be.
“I love my Job! Organisations like selectability exist to ensure people who are living in isolated or rural communities have the chance to build upon their psychosocial skills, create friendships and meaningful engagement, as well as provide mental well-being support and assistance to integrate back into society, something I think we are all passionate about.”
Brooke Youse
Support Coordinator/Psychosocial Recovery Coach
Meet Brooke – she has been working for selectability for the last 6 months, most recently taking on the role of support coordinator/psychosocial recovery coach in Bowen.
Driven and passionate, Brooke has a strong background in support work which gives her the necessary tools to support her consumers in reaching their goals.
In her role as support coordinator Brooke helps consumers better understand the NDIS, connect to the services they need to reach their goals and get the best value out of their plans.
For Brooke, her role is much more than that …
“It's hard to pick one thing that I love most about working at selectability,” said Brooke.
“The way everyone is so welcoming is refreshing, I appreciate the emphasis selectability puts on the mental wellbeing of employees and making sure we are filling ourselves up to provide the best care possible.”
Lisa Frattini
Lifestyle Support Worker/Training Mentor.
Introducing Lisa! She has been working for selectability in the Burdekin region for the last 3 months as a lifestyle support worker and training mentor.
Originally from Warwick in the Darling Downs, Lisa has called the Burdekin home for the last 4 years.
As a part of her role, Lisa supports individuals in gaining qualifications and experience so they can enter the workforce. A role that she thoroughly enjoys.

Jireh Scheurwater
Practice Supervisor
Meet Jireh – he has been working for selectability for the last 10 months and has most recently taken on the role of practice supervisor. As a part of this role, Jireh works with frontline employees with a common goal of supporting their consumers through the delivery of best practice psychosocial supports.
Born on Thursday Island, Jireh prides himself as a family orientated man with aa strong passion for supporting the wellbeing of others.
This initially led him to selectability through the role of Lifestyle Support Worker, before joining the support coordination team
“We work in a special space with our consumers that has many challenges at times but there is a lot of personal reward that comes with that,” said Jireh.
“The ripple effect of the difference we make in our work is special.”
With a 13-year background in social justice and pastoral care, Jireh is currently working toward his degree in psychological science.
In his spare time, Jireh enjoys spending time with his family and indulging in his hobbies.
“I'm easygoing and just as happy out in the bush camping with family and friends or sitting around a table playing nerdy games like Dungeons and Dragons.
“I love playing in a band and dabbling in standup comedy but I am happy to retreat into a good book, just as long as there is coffee!”
Wint Wah Nwe
Team Leader, Service Delivery
Meet Wint – she currently holds the role of team leader, service delivery in Townsville. In this role she is responsible for leading a team of LSWs and ensuring that her consumers are receiving the highest quality support.
Beginning as a lifestyle support worker, Wint has worked her way through selectability’s career progression pathway, taking on a variety of roles and training opportunities.
“I have always wanted to help others and wanted a supportive role, so I decided to study a Certificate III in Individual Support,” Wint said.
“I completed the work placement for the course at selectability and started as an LSW in 2017.
“From there I took advantage of selectability career progression opportunities, I completed a Certificate IV in Mental Health with selectability Training.
“This helped me progress to the role of support coordinator /psychosocial recovery coach.
“I then enrolled in a Diploma in Community Service which recently led me to the team leader position.
“I wanted to be able to work somewhere that empowers people to live independently.
“The team at selectability is very supportive and the people I work with, our consumers, are great. being able to help people achieve their goals is very rewarding.”
Following Wint’s journey is a pleasure to witness, as she continues to grow into new and exciting heights, so does selectability. We are proud to be a part of her journey!
Ryan Smith
Human Resources Officer
Meet Ryan – he is our new human resources officer for our recently launched aged care service.
The role was created in preparation for selectability to take over management responsibility for 3 small First Nations residential aged care facilities in the Lower Gulf.
Ryan says his role is holistic, covering human resources and logistics while working with the local communities to support the needs of aged care residents and their families.
“A part of my role is a lot of groundwork to support our growth while ensuring we are delivering best practice services … and filling roles that we don’t even know are roles yet!” Ryan said.

She is a support coordinatorr for our Ingham region!
Part of her role is to support consumers who have approved NDIS packages to connect with service providers to achieve their goals.

Colleen Murphy
Team Leader
Colleen has lived the majority of her life in Rockhampton - spending those years giving back to her community through many of her previous jobs.
“I have a wide range of skills and knowledge that I have gained over the years working with both young people and adults with positive goal outcomes,” said Colleen.
“For the last 8 years I have worked in child safety residential, as well as NDIS supported independent living and community access support.”
Now with selectability, Colleen is adapting her experience through her role as a team leader, where she coaches and supports a team of lifestyle support workers to tailor services to the needs of consumers with mental ill-health and psychosocial disability.
For Colleen, a positive work environment is key to high quality service delivery.
“Even though I am only relatively new to this role, the positive work atmosphere has been great, very calm relaxing and supportive which is a very welcoming change!”
Brett Houldsworth
Consumer Care Officer
Meet Brett! He has been working for selectability as a consumer care officer in Cairns.
Originally from Brisbane, Brett says that he gains a lot from helping people live their best lives, a fulfilment he gets from working at selectability.
“I love the fact that we are connecting with people, and making sure they are heard,” Brett said.
This is highlighted through Brett’s position as consumer care officer, as he is generally the first point of contact for consumers and employees at selectability.
“Part of my role is to ensure that people that reach out to selectability receive the most appropriate support.
“This includes assisting through the intake process as well as seeking regular feedback.”
Beyond this, Brett’s passion for the mental wellbeing of others gives him the necessary tools to deliver his work.
“I have lived experience of mental health and suicide and I was fortunate to find someone who took the time to hear me and help me.
“I am motivated to pay that forward.”
Jack Lindsay
Key Worker SIL/Medication Compliance
Meet Jack from Cairns! he is a key worker for supported independent living (SIL) and medication compliance.
A part of Jack’s role is to oversee medication compliance across 13 SIL properties in the Cairns region, providing support and training to employees where needed.
“I provide training to SIL staff on proper medication chart completion, procedural adherence, and compliance within the lifestyle support worker role,” said Jack.
“Furthermore, I conduct audits of SILs to ensure accurate medication charting and assess property compliance, including up-to-date safety data sheet documentation.
A crucial role, Jack’s day-to-day work ensures the correct procedures are in place so that our consumers can receive high quality services through SIL.
Above this, it is his dedication to his passions and previous work experience that give him his unique devotion to his role.
“Before I worked with selectability, I was an enrolled nurse in a dementia ward for 18 months, where I also trained staff in their caregiver roles.
“I would say, the most gratifying aspect of my current position is establishing connections with the SIL team company-wide, enabling me to effectively work and train staff.
“Overcoming the challenge of mastering medication audits has been pivotal, as it wasn’t something I had a lot of experience in.
While Jack is new to his role with selectability, his ongoing work to ensures best practice service for our consumers in the Cairns region.
With this is an utmost dedication to care that gives him the foundations for professional growth.
Simone Oehm
Team Leader - Direct Services
Meet Simone, she works for selectability in Cairns as a team leader for direct services.
Starting with selectability in 2023 as a lifestyle support worker, Simone progressed to her current role where she oversees the delivery of NDIS supports, coaches/supports lifestyle support workers and liases with stakeholders to ensure the best outcome for consumers.
"I enjoy working with consumers and the challenges each day can bring,Every day is different and rewarding!" said Simone.
"My personal awareness of how mental illness negatively impacts the quality of day to day living, prompted me to apply for the role of lifestyle support worker with selectability.
"After researching how I could give back, I discovered selectability are the leaders in providing mental health supports, which was something I wanted to be part of.
Ashley Low
Consumer Care Officer
Meet Ashley! She has been working for selectability in the Rockhampton region for quite some time!
As a consumer care officer, Ashley works across all programs in the Rockhampton region to ensure that our consumers have the best possible experience every time they deal with selectability.
“My role as the CCO at selectability is to empower individuals to build their confidence, work towards their goals and improve their mental wellbeing by helping resolve consumers issues where possible,” said Ashley.
“I also provide consumers with all information related to our services, document correspondence with consumers, including phone calls and emails, all while keeping relevant stakeholders updated on consumers requests.
Having grown up on a million-acre property in the Northern Territory, Ashley says that her understanding of the effects of social isolation are extensive.
With a strong passion for mental health in general, Ashley brings a strong sense of devotion to her role.
“Working in aged care previously, I noticed mental health was a very common denominator for most of their consumers.
“It is a humbling experience to be able to walk into someone having a bad day and leaving knowing you made a difference for the better.
Shelley Gowley
SIL Team Leader
Meet Shelley! She has been diligently working as team leader – supported independent living (SIL) in Townsville.
SIL is an NDIS support package designed to help a person with a disability live as independently. This can be provided in the consumers own home or in one of selectability’s many supported homes across our footprint.
Part of Shelley’s role is to coordinate a passionate team with the ultimate goal of helping consumers build their capacity in their choice of accommodation.
“I am responsible for coordinating the team so that our consumers’ support is in line with their NDIS goals as well as assisting them to live independently at home,” said Shelley.
“I also provide leadership and support, supervision, direction for 27 employees on a day-to-day basis with oversight of the SIL property operation.”
Born and raised in Townsville, Shelley has an extensive 15-year experience of managing SILs in the region, including adult and child youth services.
And yet, Shelley’s background is graciously overshadowed by her commitment to her team and consumers, as well as her overwhelming passion for making a lasting impact on the lives of others.
