Meet the team: Toni Cramond

For lifestyle support worker Toni Cramond, working with recipients in a remote community is more than just a job, it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, every single day. 

“My favourite thing about working for selectability on Palm Island is the opportunity to contribute to the lives of the people here, to be a positive light in their day,” said Toni. 

Toni’s role focuses on supporting recipients in their everyday lives, assisting them in their growth to achieve their goals.  

A mum of 4 and proud nanna of 8, Toni grew up in Sydney before living in Mudgee, Geelong and Townsville.  

Her career background is as diverse as it is interesting from winemaking to tourism and sales ... and she’s also a certified yoga teacher and marriage celebrant. 

When the opportunity came up to work in the mental wellbeing sector in a remote community, Toni knew it was the right next step. 

“I really enjoy the team I work with. It’s nice to be able to debrief at the end of the day with people who understand the role, its rewards and its challenges,” she said. 

Since starting in the role, Toni has gained valuable insights that shape her approach to support work. 

“I’ve learned the importance of appreciating the important things in life, which are not always what we think.  

“I’ve learned to be more accepting of what is and that there is no place for judgement. I’ve learned to stand up for what is right even if I stand alone. 

Her advice for anyone considering a similar career path is simple and encouraging. 

“I would say to give it a go. Go in with an open mind and be persistent in your goals.” 

Outside of work, Toni is an artist with a love for painting and drawing people, animals and the emotions that connect us all.  

She’s passionate about nature, hiking, yoga, cooking, juggling, writing, drumming and music.  

Through her role at selectability, Toni continues to bring her creativity, empathy and dedication to the Palm Island community helping recipients work towards their goals and embrace what matters most in life.
