Meet the team: Roxanne “Roxy” Martyr

In Longreach, support coordination plays an important role in helping recipients navigate the NDIS and stay connected to the supports they need. 

For Roxanne “Roxy” Martyr, that work is grounded in understanding each person’s goals and helping turn plans into practical outcomes.

“As a support coordinator, I assist NDIS recipients to understand and implement their plans by connecting them with appropriate services, coordinating support and ensuring they are working towards their goals,” said Roxy.

Originally from Rockhampton, Roxy has called Longreach home for the past 10 years.  

Her strong connection to the community shapes how she approaches her role, with a focus on building relationships and ensuring recipients feel supported locally.

Before joining selectability, Roxy worked as a baker in the local community, while also pursuing her studies in paramedicine.  

Now in her final year, she continues to balance her studies with her role, bringing both practical skills and a strong sense of care into her work.

“My studies in paramedicine and passion for helping people inspired me to seek a job in this sector.

“I have the ability to make a positive difference in recipients’ lives.”

Since starting with selectability six months ago, Roxy has developed a deeper understanding of the importance of individualised support.

“I have learned the importance of treating each recipient as their own individual with their own goals, needs and experiences.

For Roxy, effective support coordination is built on trust and connection, something she encourages others entering the sector to prioritise.

“Be open to learning and get to know your recipients to build rapport as trust is a really important part of supporting recipients well,” she said.

She values the opportunity to contribute to her local community and support people to access the services they need.

“I enjoy being able to support people in the community and help them access the services they need to live fulfilling lives.”

Outside of work and study, Roxy enjoys spending time with friends and family and getting out to explore the Longreach region, often taking her four-wheel drive buggy out to local common areas and surrounding landscapes.

Through her work in Longreach, Roxy continues to support recipients to navigate the NDIS with confidence, build connections within their community and work towards lives shaped by their own goals and choices.
