Meet the team: Patricia Ludlow
For the last year and a half, support coordinator and psychosocial recovery coach, Patricia Ludlow has brought a deeply personal understanding of the NDIS and mental wellbeing into her work with selectability recipients in Mackay.
In her role, Patricia supports recipients to understand their NDIS plans, connect with the right supports, and build the skills and confidence needed to manage services independently.
Alongside this, as a recovery coach Patricia focuses on supporting people through their mental health recovery, with an emphasis on choice, control and working towards their unique goals.
Patricia’s connection to the work is shaped by lived experience.
As a parent of two children on the NDIS, she understands the challenges families face when navigating the system and the importance of plans that are genuinely person centred.
“My focus is on coaching, collaboration with services, and building on individual strengths,” said Patricia.
“I support recipients to take control of their lives and work through barriers to achieve their goals.”
What Patricia values most about her work is the relationship-building that sits at the heart of effective support coordination.
“The best part of my job is the people, the recipients I support and the incredible team I work with.
“The most rewarding part is seeing recipients achieve their goals and continue to thrive.”
One moment that stands out for Patricia was supporting a recipient to secure specialist disability accommodation and move into their own home, an outcome that reinforced why strong advocacy and persistence matters.
Patricia’s decision to move into support coordination was driven by seeing, firsthand, how plans that are not tailored can limit outcomes.
Having successfully navigated plan reviews for her own children, she recognised the value of using that knowledge to support others.
“I realised I could use that knowledge to help others, making sure their plans truly reflect their goals and needs.”
Outside of work, Patricia enjoys spending time with her family, learning and study, and being outdoors, whether that is at the beach, swimming in creeks or listening to audiobooks between busy days.
She is currently studying for her Diploma of Mental Health through selectability Training and is halfway through her bachelor's degree in social work.
Through her work at selectability, Patricia continues to support recipients to feel heard, empowered and supported to build lives that reflect their goals, values and strengths.
