Meet the team: Lina Baker

If you spend time in selectability’s Rockhampton Mental Health Hub, chances are you will quickly notice Lina Baker.  

Known for her bubbly personality and positive attitude, Lina brings an energy to the workplace that lifts both her colleagues and the recipients she supports.

As a support coordinator and psychosocial recovery coach, Lina works alongside recipients to navigate their NDIS plans and connect with services that align with their goals.  

Lina also plays a key role in strengthening sector connections; hosting networking events that bring support coordinators and providers together to build a stronger, more connected network across the Rockhampton region.

“My role involves coordinating recipients’ NDIS plans and helping link them with services that align with their NDIS funding,” Lina said.

“Recently part of my role has been holding networking events with other support coordinators to link services and create a deeper connection in the community.”

Originally from Kingaroy, Lina has spent most of her life in Rockhampton, where her family lives.  

Her connection to the local community plays a big part in the way she approaches her work, focusing on building strong relationships with both recipients and other services.

Before moving into support coordination, Lina was a support worker for approximately four years supporting nonverbal recipients.  

That experience helped shape the skills and understanding she brings to her current role.

“That role helped me grow into the role I have now.”

Lina says one of the things she values most about working at selectability is the strong sense of team work and support across the organisation.

“I love our office team and our Rockhampton team as a whole, but I also love that within selectability everyone is able to help far or close."

Her decision to pursue a career in the sector was driven by a desire to make a deeper impact within the NDIS space.

“I wanted to be able to make a bigger and deeper difference for those on the NDIS,” she said.

Lina encourages anyone considering the sector to approach the work with an open mind and a willingness to adapt.

“It’s a very rewarding career however each day can be challenge and no day will ever look the same.”

Outside of work, Lina enjoys spending time outdoors, often escaping into nature for camping trips or enjoying a coffee by the beach.

Through her work in Rockhampton, Lina continues to bring enthusiasm, connection and positivity to the people around her, helping recipients feel supported while strengthening the local network of services that make meaningful support possible.
