Meet the team: Ange Nicolson

selectability Charters Towers has welcomed a new regional coordinator, and for Ange Nicolson, the role feels less like a new beginning and more like a meaningful return home.

Born in Charters Towers, Ange spent many years building her career in Townsville before moving back in early 2025.

Now, with more than 16 years’ experience in the community services sector, she is leading service delivery in the very community that shaped her.

“I was born in Charters Towers, moved to Townsville in 2008 and returned to reside in Charters Towers in January 2025,” said Ange.

“My husband and I have been in business since 2011.

“I have two beautiful children, a daughter at university in Townsville and a son at Blackheath and Thornburgh College in Charters Towers.”

Stepping into her new role as regional coordinator, Ange is responsible for overseeing daily service delivery and providing direction to NDIS group and individual services, supported independent living, child and family care and support coordination.

“Our recipients are our top priority.

“As a team are committed to providing the best possible service with integrity, positivity and compassion.

Ange’s passion for supporting people began early and has guided her through qualifications including a Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) and a Bachelor of Social Science (Social Welfare).  

Before joining selectability, she spent nearly a decade in the care industry, deepening her understanding of community care and what it takes to create safe, meaningful support for others.

She says her motivation for working in the sector has always remained the same.

“I am very passionate about people and helping people in all walks of life to live a full life on their own terms.”

With only two weeks in her role so far, Ange is already drawing on lessons she considers essential to effective support.

“Communication in every aspect is important - with the people we support in the community, with staff, and with colleagues.  

“I believe that communication and the delivery of that communication is key to success in all facets.

“It is so important to care about others.

“You cannot do work like this for a pay cheque, and if you do, then you are in the wrong profession.

“You work in the community services sector because you want to help others and because it is something that you are passionate about.”

Outside of work, Ange enjoys time with family and friends, walking her dogs, travelling and cooking.

She also believes strongly in everyday kindness, something she practices through simple moments of connection.

“I share kindness every day by greeting people in a friendly manner and by asking how they are.

“I try to smile as often as possible. I randomly greet people in the street that I walk past, and I walk into work each morning with a smile … I try to give everyone a piece of my time.

Above all, Ange is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Charters Towers community in her new role as regional coordinator.

“I have a very full life and a life full of blessings.

“I am honoured to be given this opportunity to work in this role and with the amazing people at selectability.”
