Meet the team: Alina Sheret

For almost four years, Cairns-based NDIS practice lead Alina Sheret has been helping strengthen selectability’s supports for people across regional Queensland.

In a newly created role, she is focused on ensuring that our NDIS recipients receive tailored, high-quality support that empowers them to live with confidence, independence and community connection.

Alina brings more than five years of experience in the NDIS sector, having previously worked as a supported independent living (SIL) team leader and even stepping into the role of acting general manager in Cairns in 2025.

Her career progression reflects both her commitment to the sector and her passion for improving outcomes for recipients.

“In this new role, I will work across key NDIS areas including positive behaviour support planning, supported independent living processes, restrictive practice reporting to the NDIS Commission, and the development and implementation of NDIS policies and procedures,” said Alina.

Born in Russia, Alina moved to Australia at the age of seven, spending most of her life in Townsville before relocating to Cairns, where she found her career pathway at selectability. 

“My background and experiences have shaped my strong commitment to community and support, which I bring into my professional role.” 

That commitment is one of the things Alina values most about her work at selectability. 

“What I love about working at selectability is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day.

“Being part of a team that is genuinely committed to improving mental wellbeing and supporting individuals through the NDIS is incredibly rewarding. The sense of purpose and connection to the community is something I truly value.

“One of the things I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability. Every individual, team and situation is different.

“I’ve also gained a deeper understanding of how clear communication, consistency and empathy can make a difference.” 

Looking ahead, Alina is focused on supporting our NDIS practice and ensuring high-quality outcomes for recipients.

“My role plays a part in supporting mental wellbeing by ensuring individuals receive the right support to live as independently and confidently as possible.

“Through person-centred care and consistent, compassionate support, we help participants build routines, develop life skills and stay connected to their communities.” 

For Alina, the step into practice leadership is more than a title.

It represents an opportunity to strengthen NDIS services so that every recipient can live life on their terms, with the confidence to reach their goals.
