About the role

selectability Cairns is growing! 

We are currently seeking passionate and skilled Lifestyle Support Workers to join our SIL team. As a Lifestyle Support Worker under our SIL services you will assist consumers with daily tasks and activities to build life skills and connect with the Cairns community. 

No two days will ever be the same when you are providing support to our consumers. You will be providing a variety of support that includes:

  • assisting and teaching clients with household chores
  • accessing the community to assist our clients in building confidence
  • mentoring clients on appropriate behaviors
  • supporting clients in learning life skills
  • following and adhering to Positive Behaviour Support plans and restrictive practices where applicable

About you

We are looking for motivated applicants who have great flexibility. Working over a 24/7 roster. including shift work, regular sleepovers and weekend work may be required

Personal attributes: 

  • sensitive and adaptable to clients' different personalities, cultural backgrounds and personal circumstances
  • emotionally aware, resilient and responsive to the changing support needs of our clients
  • calm and confident in new environments with a knack for problem solving
  • the ability to quickly and effectively engage consumers
  • and most importantly a positive attitude! 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • a working knowledge of the NDIS (desirable) 
  • experience working with disability and/or mental health (Highly regarded but not essential)
  • First Aid and CPR certificates (or ability to obtain before you start)

You will also need 

  • Current drivers licence (minimum P2)
  • a roadworthy, registered and comprehensively insured car
  • current Blue card with Yellow Card exemption
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check if Yellow card is not current.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You' completion certificate
    (visit to access this free module)

At completion of the course, you will be provided with a certificate of completion which you can forward to

NOTE: It is a mandatory condition of employment for this position to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required prior to commencing.
