Jackie Inwood named finalist for QCOSS Frontline Hero Award

For eight years, Jackie Inwood has been committed to her role at selectability and most notably, a reassuring a face at the Townsville Mental Health Hub - place where connection, care and community meet.

As program coordinator, Jackie leads with compassion and purpose.

This includes in supports a team of 30 employees who together deliver group programs, individual supports and community events for more than 250 recipients across the region.

This year, her dedication has been recognised statewide, with Jackie named one of five finalists for the QCOSS Frontline Hero Award - a reflection of her commitment to improving mental wellbeing in regional Queensland.

“I am proud to be part of an organisation that is strongly committed to providing support for our regional and remote recipients who may not have access to the necessary resources for their mental health and overall wellbeing,” said Jackie.

Under her leadership, the Townsville Mental Health Hub has become a safe and welcoming space for anyone seeking connection or support - whether through art sessions, advocacy, or simply sharing a cup of tea in good company.

Jackie also coordinated the selectwellbeing program, which provides tailored support for individuals living with severe mental illness who are not eligible for the NDIS.

In 2025, she helped expand selectability’s reach even further by leading the BikeShed program.

Based on the Men’s Shed concept, it offers a welcoming space where locals can connect, maintain bikes, and join in group rides - all while building confidence, friendships and better mental wellbeing.

Each of these programs carries Jackie’s signature approach: collaboration, care and inclusion. Her belief that connection is the foundation of recovery has shaped a culture where recipients feel empowered to take the lead in their own wellbeing.

Beyond program delivery, Jackie and her team are known for their community spirit. Each year they host a holiday lunch - a day of food, laughter and belonging.

“We know that not everyone finds this the happiest and most social time of the year.

“Inviting the Townsville community to join us for a free holiday lunch helps us remind them they are not alone and that support is available.”

There can be no doubt that Jackie’s progression as a leader in the last 8 years at selectability is a testament to her tenacity and drive for the highest quality service.
