Autism & eating disorders - peer support
selectability is committed to caring for carers in our community.
Do care for somebody with autism or with an eating disorder? We have launched two support networks as a platform for you to connect with fellow carers in similar caring roles, provide guidance and support for you to carryout your role and implement a calendar of activities aimed at ultimately improving your overall wellbeing as an individual and a carer.
To cater for carers who work, it is envisaged that in the future each network will meet on a monthly basis after hours where activities planned could be collectively participating in:
- a casual fun run/walk,
- getting together for a movie night out,
- participating in a craft class… the options are endless!
There's never been a more important time to stay connected amid the current COVID-19 restrictions and resulting potential for carers to experienced increased physical and emotional isolation. During this time, each network will be conducted via the online meeting platform Zoom, providing the opportunity for carers to share your stories, hints and suggestions on how you can support the person you care for as well as care for own mental wellbeing, as we all manage this unprecedented health crisis together.
