About our Bike Sheds
selectability's Bike Sheds are innovative new facilities designed to help regional Queenslanders overcome loneliness and get more active.
Loosely based on the proven Men’s Shed concept, selectability’s Bike Shed provides an inclusive space for locals to connect, work on projects, join in group bike rides and improve their mental wellbeing.
Social isolation and loneliness can be harmful to both physical and mental health so if you're interested in finding out what the Bike Sheds are about drop in borrow a bike and go for a ride, do some bike repairs in the workshop or sit down for a coffee and a chat.
It’s a free service and everyone is welcome.
Our Bike Sheds are proudly supported by Queensland Health and operate in Ingham, Townsville, Charters Towers and Mackay ... with more coming soon!
Loneliness can be a key trigger for suicide and even before the onset of the COVID pandemic Australia was experiencing a loneliness epidemic. Our Bike Sheds provide communities across regional Queensland with the opportunity to become active and more connected.
Listen to our podcast with Debra Burden, CEO to find out how the Bike Shed concept came about - you can find it here.
