About the role

We have a new opportunity for an experienced communications officer to join our growing team. In this varied role you will work with the marketing and communications manager to drive brand awareness and implement plans that support the organisation’s strategic direction.

This role works across a large regional Queensland footprint so key to your success will be your ability to create engaging content tailored to the needs of these diverse communities.

Responsibilities

The Communications and Media Officer will assist in the preparation and implementation of effective media and communications plans across selectability’s large regional Queensland footprint. 

Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the role will:

  • Assist in the implementation of media/PR strategies to support and promote marketing activity, services, programs , fundraising and events to meet communications objectives

  • Managing all media booking and buying

  • Gather, write and distribute stories and other content from across our regions selectability’s social media, website, publications and internal communication initiatives

  • Assist in providing communications and media support for launches and campaigns through the implementation of agreed plans

  • Assist in providing a consistent flow of media information/activity and key messages to the leadership team and other internal stakeholders. 

To be successful in this role, you will need: 

  • Tertiary qualification in public relations, communications and/or journalism.

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.

  • Experience in dealing with media and generating coverage.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills particularly creating PR angles desirable to media.

  • Excellent writing skills and ability to tailor writing to a brief and present material in a concise style for the selectability’s publications and digital platforms.

  • Ability to assist in the coordination of media launches and events.

  • An understanding of the regional Queensland media landscape and public relations best practice.

  • Ability to solicit and research material on issues relevant to selectabiity’s purpose and strategic directions 

  • Advanced MS Word, Excel and Outlook Express.

  • Good organisational skills.

Role Requirements

  • A current Australian Drivers Licence

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You' completion certificate

Note: It is a mandatory condition of employment for this position to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required prior to commencing.

  • Initially on offer is a 6 month fixed term contract with a view to extend in the new financial year. There is the potential for this position to become ongoing for the right candidate.
