BikeShed and breakfast a winner in Bowen
Connection, conversation and community have been driving the success of Bowen’s BikeShed and Breakfast sessions, with more people getting involved each month.
The Bowen BikeShed has welcomed strong attendance at its popular “BikeShed and Breakfast” sessions in recent months, with recipients coming together to enjoy bike rides, breakfast, conversation and connection.
Now, thanks to the addition of two new tricycles, even more people will be able to take part.
The new tricycles were introduced after recipients identified a need for additional options that would allow people with different abilities and confidence levels to join upcoming rides.
Before hitting the road, recipients rolled up their sleeves and got involved in a hands-on maintenance workshop, working together to assemble the new tricycles while learning practical bike maintenance skills.
Bowen regional coordinator Jenelle Maher said the workshop reflected what BikeShed is all about.
“BikeShed creates opportunities for people to come together, learn something new and build connections with others in a relaxed and supportive environment,” said Jenelle.
“It was fantastic to see everyone working together, sharing ideas and learning new skills while building something that will benefit other people in our community.”
While the BikeShed and Breakfast sessions are known for their bike rides, the program offers something for everyone.
Participants can enjoy breakfast, socialise, learn bike maintenance skills or simply spend time with others in a welcoming environment.
Jenelle said the addition of the tricycles would help ensure even more people could experience those benefits.
“We want everyone to feel welcome and included, regardless of their experience or ability,” she said.
“These tricycles mean more people can join in, build confidence and enjoy the social connection that comes from being part of the group.”
As the Bowen BikeShed continues to grow, it remains focused on what matters most: bringing people together, building friendships and creating opportunities for people to connect with their community.
